What a strong answer does

When an interviewer says “tell me about yourself,” they are not asking for your biography. They are asking whether, in the first ninety seconds, you can make yourself legible as a plausible hire for this specific role. Treat it as calibration: you are giving them a map of what to ask next. A strong answer selects the few facts that matter, frames them around the job, and hands the interviewer threads you are happy to have pulled later in the conversation.
